Dental disease can lead to many other health concerns including: heart disease, respiratory issues, kidney disease, among many others. While routine sedated oral exams and cleanings are an important part of our pet’s oral heath, there are several things that you can do at home to help prolong the need for an anesthetic procedure. Gold standard is tooth brushing; ideally done daily. This will take some time and patience during training to acclimate your pet to this process. You can also feed a diet that is formulated for oral health. There are also treats that are formulated for improved oral health. Check out VOHC.org to find out what foods and treats we recommend.
