Creekside Animal Hospital has some of the best medical technology that veterinary medicine has to offer. It is our goal to make sure that we stay on top of the latest advances in medical and surgical procedures. All of our doctors and technicians actively partake in continued surgical education.
Before your pet comes in for surgery, we require a presurgical exam be done to make sure that the pet is healthy enough to undergo anesthesia. We also highly recommend presurgical bloodwork to ensure that your pet does not have any underlying issues related to organ function that we need to address prior to surgery. Each and every patient is different, which is why we tailor our anesthetic protocols specifically for each pet and the procedure they are having performed.
Each patient receives a multi-modal approach to pain management which helps ease the discomfort of the procedure they are having performed. Some of our pain relief techniques include local nerve blocks, epidurals, and long acting injectable and topical drugs. When indicated, patients are also sent home with anti-inflammatories which further help with discomfort.
We use a sterile technique which means every instrument that we use is sterilized in an autoclave. Your pets’ surgical sites are clipped with surgical clippers and then scrubbed with sterile solution. Our doctors “scrub in” and wear a surgical cap, mask, sterile gown, and sterile surgical gloves. All of our patients are hooked up to a full vitals monitoring system where we can watch their heart rate, oxygen levels, respiration rates, body temperature, blood pressure and EKG. To make sure your pet receives the best care possible, our highly qualified technicians, assist our veterinarians in monitoring pets throughout their entire procedure and until they have fully recovered from anesthesia.
